Jazz in New York

This is no surprise. But jazz in New York is awesome. The LLM year coming to an end, I still cannot tell which of the numerous jazz venues is my favorite. There are so many, so different – each is unique. Dark cellars, which invited you to focus exclusively on the emotions convey through the tunes. Roof top bars, where jazz is just background music, creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy stunning views over central park or to feel part of the amazing skyline. Classical restaurants, where you can savor delicious brunch and admire the cool bass line and the marvelous voice of an old jazz singer. Fancy places with dress code, or some random cellar in the middle of Harlem. Whenever you feel the need for jazz, New York provides you with it; be it in the morning for breakfast or brunch, in the evening for a proper concert with all jazz stars you always wanted to listen to, or (my favorite time) at night, the late night session to escort the whiskey which you earned yourself after racking your brain all day about the dilemma of transnational corporations and human rights.

The opportunity to spontaneously decide to take a drink and listen to a lonely contrabass or trombone, telling you its story of life…I will definitely miss this.
